What are T-levels and what are the grades worth?
T-levels are a new qualification designed to offer young people a technical alternative to A-levels. They were introduced in September 2020 and aim to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in a specific industry.
There are three grades awarded for T-levels:
- Pass
- Merit
- Distinction
Each grade represents a different level of achievement, with Distinction being the highest and Pass being the lowest. T-levels are equivalent to 3 A-levels and provide a mixture of classroom learning and practical experience.
Grades in T-levels are worth different amounts of UCAS points, with Distinction* being worth 168 points, Distinction worth 144 points, and Merit worth 120 points. These points can be used to apply for university or other higher education courses.
